Microsoft changed tbe icon for the new minecraft launcher to a new one. However you might notice that the graphic/icon for the launcher looks weird.

The Minecraft Launcher shortcut should be now on the desktop!.

Windows will ask you to create that shotcut on desktop.

find 'Minecraft Launcher', right click on it and choose 'Create Shortcut'.
